Tour Overview
The 10D China Silk Road Islamic Tour takes you across some of the most historically significant cities of northwestern China.
For centuries, the Silk Road was much more than a trading route. Merchants, scholars and travellers carried cultures, languages and religions across continents, including Islam, which developed strong communities throughout western China.
Our journey begins in Xi'an, the ancient starting point of the Silk Road and home to one of China's oldest Muslim communities.
From there, travel west towards Lanzhou, where Islamic culture remains an important part of everyday life.
Continue through the extraordinary landscapes of Zhangye before reaching Jiayuguan, an important gateway at the western edge of the Great Wall.
The journey then takes you into the Gobi Desert to Dunhuang, where desert dunes and ancient Silk Road history create one of the most memorable experiences of the tour.
Finally, continue towards Urumqi in Xinjiang, where the culture, food, architecture and people reveal another fascinating side of China.
